A photonovella tells a fictional story through the devices of
text-based stories, the mechanisms of comic books and the
conventions of motion pictures. It has its own story-telling
"grammar." Unlike books, comics and motion pictures, however,
Internet or CD-ROM-based photonovellas have no practical limit
in terms of their length. Naturally, however, they require the
same level of story-telling discipline and expertise that the
traditional media do. To be successful and popular, photonovellas
must entertain, move, amuse and provoke readers, just as good,
traditional-media storytelling does.
