He explained that she was going to find that
there were few people in the building because
Chindit had “right-sized” its staff in the wake
of the dot-com meltdown and that all the coding
was off-shored to India, where people worked
for a fraction of the wages demanded in Canada.


Joyce spoke with bland encouragement.
But inside she was calculating what kind
of man Lyle Talbot was, what kind of company
his was, and what it would mean to her.



“Well, why don't we get started?
I'm afraid the only place I have
to park you is next to my partner.

“"He won't mind a bit.”


“This is our little cave.
And over there is our
own little cave man.”
